Research Facilities

The department has three buildings. Buildings 1 and 2 are 2-story and 3-story buildings respectively, covering an area of ​​4,740m². The research institute is a 4-story building, covering an area of ​​about 1,750m². There is one practical campus (Beigou Practical Campus, address: No. 312, Minsheng Road, Wufeng District, Taichung City 413), which includes a forest product processing plant, a paper mill, two greenhouses, a nursery, as well as practical classrooms and dormitories. In addition, there are four forest farms (including Huisun Forest Farm, Xinhua Forest Farm, Dongshi Forest Farm and Wenshan Forest Farm) for teachers and students to teach, practice and conduct research, covering a total area of ​​8,447ha. The department building has 28 teacher's individual research rooms, 8 general classrooms, 2 large audio-visual classrooms, 1 conference room, 9 laboratories, a herbarium and a wood material herbarium.

The department currently has 972 instruments and equipment of various types, with a total value of nearly NT$ 120 million, of which 32 items are priced at more than NT$ 500,000.
The facilities and equipment can be used for research in various fields such as plant growth, forest physiology, soil analysis, forest ecology, wood properties, wood bonding, coating processing, biocomposite materials, and furniture design and manufacturing. The department will continue to update the facilities and instruments to meet the needs of teaching and research.
